Michela Baldi

Vive e lavora nel hinterland milanese. Si dedica all’arte per passione e per attitudini ereditate. Michela ama la pittura, frequenta pittori ed ambienti artistici, ma è nell’intimità della propria casa, tra i suoi affetti più cari che nascono i suoi lavori. Le sue opere parlano di mondi segreti, di intimità indagate, di atmosfere rarefatte, di ambienti curiosi, storie di uomini e donne comuni ma analizzate e trasformate in esseri unici ed interessanti. L’artista moltiplica l’immagine fotografica di partenza, logora la fotografia, la invecchia, la vive, la carica di passione, di rabbia, di affetto, di vizio, di desiderio. Tutto questo però assecondando una poetica totalmente femminile. Ne esce una pellicola cinematografica. Una sequenza di fotogrammi tutti uguali che però, proprio per quel processo di alterazione ed invasione che l’artista compie, si plasmano e si trasformano in maniera lenta ed appena percepibile. Ecco dunque che la staticità dell’immagine, del ritratto, si anima e si muove. La celebrazione di questa metamorfosi avviene per piani ravvicinati, senza clamori, in silenzio, lentamente, ma incessantemente. Le sue figure scorrono lungo il supporto stampato, lasciando intuire il fotogramma che le precede ed immaginando quello che seguirà. Al finestrino di un mezzo di locomozione, seppur lento, siamo noi, e sta dunque a noi decidere di aumentare o diminuire tale velocità, di stabilire la direzione, di capire come meglio vogliamo vivere quest’opera e l’esperienza che ci suggerisce.

She lives and works in the Milanese hinterland. She dedicates herself to art out of passion and because of inherited attitudes. Michela loves painting, frequents painters and artistic circles, but it is in the privacy of her own home, in the midst of her most precious possessions that her works are born. Her works speak of secret worlds, of investigated intimacies, of rarefied atmospheres, of curious environments, stories of ordinary men and women but analyzed and transformed in unique and interesting beings. The artist multiplies the initial photographic image, wears out the photography, makes it old, lives it, charges it with passion, with rage, affection, vice, desire. All this however corroborating a completely feminine poetry. The outcome is a cinematographic film. A sequence of equal photograms that, because of the process of alteration and invasion that the artist performs, form and transform themselves however in a slow and barely perceptible manner. Therefore the immobility of the image, of the portrait, animates itself and moves. The celebration of this metamorphosis happens by closer planes, without clamor, in silence, slowly but incessantly. Her figures run along the printed support, letting us guess the photogram that precedes this one and imagining the one that comes next. At the window of a locomotive, even though slow, means of transportation, are we, and thus it is our task to decide to go faster or slower, to establish the direction, to understand how to best live this work and the experience that it suggests.
