Artista romana di grande talento, lavora in maniera scrupolosa sia nella preparazione dei supporti, sia nella minuziosa, precisa e lenta stesura del disegno e a volte, raramente, del colore. Per la resa fotografica dei suoi lavori potremmo definire Marina un’iperrealista del bianco e nero. I soggetti prediletti della sua pittura sono i ritratti: volti o figure intere. Lei ama i volti vissuti delle persone mature, dove le rughe ed il tempo concorrono anche solo attraverso un fotogramma a raccontare tutta una vita, ma anche i volti rugosi ed ancora corrucciati dei neonati possono catturare la sua attenzione ed offrirle lo spunto per una denuncia, magari sull’infanzia negata. Tutti i suoi personaggi hanno una lotta o interiore o nel mondo da dover combattere, l’artista li coglie coperti da mascherine da chirurgo, oppure da maschere antigas, segna e sottolinea il dramma nei loro visi.

Tratta le rughe ed i solchi in maniera tale da farne risultare dei volti paesaggio, come se su quelle facce corressero delle strade, dei viali, ci fossero dei burroni o dei vuoti che il nostro sguardo percorre e dove idealmente seguiamo le linee della matita. I suoi personaggi potremmo definirli dei sopravvissuti come se un cataclisma, o lo scoppio di una bomba nucleare avessero spazzato l’umanità ed il mondo preservando solo l’essere protagonista di quella tela.

Ecco allora che si giustifica il dramma che si legge negli occhi di ciascuno di loro, quasi che dalle pupille intatto si potesse rivedere il momento culminante della tragedia, e allo stesso modo cogliamo la sconfitta del vincitore. Sopravvissuto sì ma a che cosa se del mondo, delle sue risorse, del confronto con altri esseri viventi non è rimasto nulla? L’uomo è un animale socievole che vive in branco da sempre, soli quegli esseri umani non potranno campare, ma la loro morte sarà lenta e consapevole, verrà attesa ed assaporata in maniera totale e forse alla fine, l’ultimo dei mortali, si darà spiegazione dell’esistenza, della vita e della morte, precetti ai quali dopo milioni di anni ancora noi viventi non sappiamo dare risposta.

Roman artist of great talent, she works in a scrupulous manner both in the preparation of the supports as in the meticulous, precise and slow application of the design, and sometimes, rarely, color. As far as the photographic rendering of her works is concerned we can describe Marina as a hyperrealist of black and white. The favorite subjects of her painting are portraits: faces or full figure. She loves the worn faces of mature people, where wrinkles and time compete even if only through a photogram to tell the story of a life, but also the wrinkled and still angry faces of newborn babies can capture her attention and offer her the idea for an accusation, maybe of a denied childhood. All her characters have a battle to fight, whether internal or with the world, the artist catches them covered with surgical or else with anti-gas masks, marks and underlines the tragedy in their faces. She treats the wrinkles and the furrows to make landscape-faces of them, as if on those faces run streets, avenues, as if there were ravines or voids that we scour with our eyes and to where ideally we follow the lines of the pencil.

 Her characters could be described as survivors as if some cataclysm or the explosion of a nuclear bomb had wiped away mankind and the world preserving only the protagonist of that canvas. And thus the tragedy we read in the eyes of each of them justifies itself, almost as if from the intact pupils we could see the culminating moment of the tragedy again, and in the same manner we capture the defeat of the victor. Survived yes, but to what if of the world, its resources, the confrontation with other living beings nothing has remained? Man is a social animal that has forever lived in herds, alone those human beings couldn’t resist, but their death will be slow and conscious, will be waited for and savored completely and maybe in the end, the last of the mortals will find himself a reason for existence, for life and death, precepts to which after millions of years we the living still can’t give an answer.
