Non è possibile classificare Filippo entro uno stile unico o un gruppo di pensiero particolare, l’artista ha fatto della sua ricerca e del work in progress la materia dei suoi prodotti artistici. Si tratta di frammenti diversi sapientemente raccordati ed esteticamente assemblati,  messaggi che arrivano dalla pubblicità, dal progresso, dalla scienza, dalla natura. A questo materiale l’artista aggiunge elaborazioni digitale, allo scopo di ottenere un prodotto assolutamente originale, perché nuovo ed unico. Siamo abituati con Filippo a non doverci abituare, sappiamo cioè che ogni volta introdurrà un nuovo ciclo del proprio lavoro e sfuggiranno nuovamente i parametri precedenti. Centenari si sta confrontando da diversi anni con il plotter e conoscendone le potenzialità è in grado di realizzare opere che proprio grazie a questo tipo di stampe presenteranno da angolature diverse una stessa immagine. Nella stampa il lavoro di Filippo non si completa ma stabilisce solo una tappa per poi ripartire verso una nuova ricerca estetica e contenutistica. Nelle opere per questo progetto troviamo come supporto di partenza la diapositiva di una piazza che si anima e si muove. La deformazione delle strutture architettoniche e l’ondeggiare dell’immagine rende dinamica la foto, la piazza sembra infatti venirci incontro, e le sedie rosse preparate per lo spettacolo descrivono l’incedere lento e perpetuo di un esercito verso di noi. 

Allo stesso modo, proprio perché la visione della piazza e del suo allestimento viene simmetricamente spezzata in due dal corridoio centrale, la proiezione dello sguardo dal nostro punto di osservazione allo scorcio prospettico in fuga, costringe anche noi inesorabilmente ad avanzare verso l’immagine. Eppure entrambi le componenti: l’opera ed il suo fruitore, rimangono sempre alla stessa distanza l’una dall’altro. Gli antichi greci avrebbero stabilito due numeri: lo zero (l’opera) e l’infinito (noi), e definito la distanza tra i due incolmabile perché infinita o incolmabile perché inesistente. Il movimento non esiste se non come concetto sembra volerci dire l’autore con quest’opera, dunque il viaggio, quello vero, è solo uno stato mentale.

It is not possible to classify him in one single style or a particular current of thought, the artist has made of his search and of the work in progress the material of his artistic products. It concerns different fragments conscientiously joined and esthetically assembled, messages that arrive from advertising, from progress, from science, from nature. To this material the artist adds digital elaborations, with the purpose of obtaining an absolutely original, because new and unique, product. We have gotten used with Filippo to not get used, we know that each time he will introduce a new cycle of his own work and the previous parameters will vanish again. Centenari has been confronting us for several years now with the plotter and knowing its potential is capable to create works that, precisely because of this type of printing, present the same image from different angles. In the printing Filippo’s work doesn’t complete itself but establishes only a stage after which it takes of again in search of new esthetics and meanings. In the works for this project we find as the starting point a slide of a square that animates and moves itself. 

The deformation of the architectural structures and the undulation of the image make the photo dynamic, the square seems to come to meet us, and the red chairs prepared for the performance describe the slow and continuous proceeding of an army towards us. In the same way, because the vision of the square and its arrangement is symmetrically broken in half by the central walkway, the projection of our eye from our observation point to the vanishing prospective foreshortening, also forces us to relentlessly advance towards the image. Nevertheless both elements: the work and its beholder, stay always at the same distance from one another. The ancient Greeks are said to have established two numbers: the zero (the work) and the infinite (we), and to have defined the distance between the two as insurmountable because infinite or insurmountable because non-existent. Movement doesn’t exist if not as a concept, is what the author seems to tell us with this work, hence the journey, the real one, is only a mental attitude.
